Sonic Sphere
Sonic Sphere at The Shed in New York: a 65 ft sphere hung inside the McCourt, with more than 100 JBL speakers moving sound above, below and around the audience, in step with the light. The listening platform sits in the lower half of the sphere, with floor plates, net lounges, bench seating, steps and guardrails, reached by stairs, landings and gangways from the McCourt floor. My role was architectural design consultant. The view flies in from outside the Shed, climbs the stair, crosses the gangway, goes through the doorway and around the seating, looks up into the sphere, then flies back out.
